Root Canal Treatment for my Li'l Girl

Yes, at 6 years old ( well, almost) my li'l girl had her first root canal treatment. She actually had her tooth filled last year in Malaysia. And the filling somehow came out unnoticed and we only got to know about it when my girl has been complaining of a nightly toothaches.

When the dentist checked, there's already an abscess and she suggested two options; a root canal or extraction. Extraction could be an easier and cheaper option but then, there will be a tendency for the other teeth to move and this crowd up on the gap. This can only then be prevented by her wearing a retainers. But the extracted baby tooth will only be replaced by a permanent tooth at the age of 12, so that means she'll be wearing retainers until 12. If not, then braces will be a must for her when she grows up. Braces are quite expensive and I might end up checking my online credit report just to get one for her. LOL!

So, we didn't have a choice but let her undergo root canal. My husband took her back to the clinic and it seemed she was very calm during the first stage of the treatment. But during the time when they were 'poking' with the needles, she was already crying because of pain. But I still commend her for being brave because she didn't give up and beg to get out of the dental chair halfway. In fact, she has to continue the treatment next week, and she's still very willing to go back there. Whew!
