Our Boy's Minor Accident

As you might have already known, our li'l boy is very energetic and can't keep still for a minute. He has already fallen several times and suffered some minor cuts and wounds as a result of his spinning, running and climbing.

This afternoon, I was folding our clothes and just watching my kids play around the house. My 2 year old was about the jump from his basketful of toys when he seemed to have gone out of balance. The computer table was near the basket and he was not able to hold on the table for support on time but instead hit his chin hard on it.

Then he came crying to me and I was shocked to see his mouth full of blood. I thought that he cut his lips but the blood seemed to be from the inside. And then I saw that his tongue got cut. His teeth must have cut his own tongue. I let him chew on the ice to keep the blood from flowing but there was still so much of blood gushing out. That's when I called my Hubby and asked him to come back home fast.

Thankfully, after several minutes, the blood stopped flowing and when I saw the cut, it was only about 3-4 millimeters, but it was deep. He already stopped crying and was once again normally walking and playing as if nothing has happened to him. But still we went to the hospital to have his tongue checked and maybe some ointments can be applied to let the wound heal fast.

When the Dr. checked him, she told us of two options we can do for our li'l boy, either they will stitch his wound or give him some antiobiotic to prevent infection and let it heal naturally. We then checked the surgeon and he advised us to stitch the wound. I didn't know that his wound was that serious. With a heavy heart, we agreed to have his would stitched but was surprised when the Dr. only scheduled the stitching the next day. And he also asked us not to feed our li'l boy any water, food and milk for 8 hours! What?! I can't imagine not feeding my 2 year old anything through the night. He loves to drink milk and since he had his sleeping problems he has been drinking more milk than he used to. And what would happen if we don't give him any milk throughout the night? He will surely be crying out of hunger and I can't bear to see that for our li'l boy. It would seem so cruel for us to just watch him cry and not giving him anything.

So, we asked the Dr. of another option, the medication which the 1st Dr. said. He said that it would be okay but it'll take about a week to two before the wound to heal. There is a risk for infection though since it's an open wound but he will just prescribe anti biotic.

We felt better that there is still another option. Our boy seems to be okay with his wound and he doesn't complain of any pain. So, I guess the 2nd option would be okay. Oh, I can't just imagine him going through a minor operation and without milk and water overnight. Whew!

But we're praying that indeed his wound will heal fast and there won't be any infection. Please do help us pray for him too. Thanks!
