Relationship Is More Important

One principle that has been handed down by our parents to us is valuing relationship more than winning an argument, a 'fight' or even getting your rights. I've seen this principle at work in my parent's life especially during the time in which we felt unfairly treated by someone in the business whom we thought were our close family friend. My father always had the 'right' to fight back or at least get his rights but because he valued relationship more than money, he chose not to do it.

For others, this principle might seem only for the weak, but in my opinion it requires greater strength and courage to keep silent even if you've been treated unfairly, to have humility even if they seem to have stepped on you and preserve relationship even if others value other things more than a person. This was what Jesus has been through and we are called to be like Him.

If we try to value relationship more than anything, the joy and reward is overwhelming at the end. You have peace within yourself and can live peacefully with everyone.
