We had a chance to drive around town last night to see the condition of the city center ( a week after the flood). The town center was cleaner with but some malls still closed. Lee Gardens Hotel and the shops inside are still closed except for McDonald's. Central Plaza and Novotel is still closed since the Tops supermarket underground has been filled with water. Odean Mall is still closed except for their after-flood sale which they're doing outside the mall. We were surprised to still see several tourists around the quiet city center. Maybe they thought that everything's back to normal after the flood. The only major department store that's back to business is Robinson's. They opened yesterday with their 'grand' sale of items up to 50% off. We took a tour around their sale area and saw that indeed a lot of branded items are cheaper like western belts, animal print flip flops, jeans, shirts and even wholesale handbags.
The smaller shops around the city center are also back to business except for a few who are still cleaning up and continuing their after-flood sale.
I just hope that everything will be back to normal in a few days time. It'll be nice to give a tour around the city to our family and friends who are coming with businesses back to normal.
