Special Classmate

I was amused by my li'l girl's statement earlier when she said that she's a 'special classmate'. She knows that she has 'special' privileges as the only foreigner student in the local school that we enrolled her in, like we made special arrangements for her to only go to school half day and being a Christian, she's not required to follow their religious ceremonies.

But then when I asked her why she's a 'special classmate', it wasn't the answer the I was expecting to hear. She said, ' because I'm the only one who doesn't 'rotan' ( spanked) by the teacher." Opppsss.. so, her teacher spanks the students huh? I guess this is normal in Thai schools, for teacher to spank/punish the kids for doing wrong things. I've never seen this in my primary years in the Philippines but I'm not sure if it's the same these days too. Anyways, I'm glad that my girl isn't spanked either because she's behaving well or maybe because she is a 'special classmate'. :)
