No Cable TV Days

Since we are in the process of rearranging our house for the ongoing cement work, we decided to move the TV upstairs. That means, the cable TV won't be on for a few days. I kinda like it that way and even planning to cut off our cable TV soon. I feel that the cable TV is adding up to my everyday stress as I try to control my kids' TV time.

I find a big difference with cable TV and videos. With videos, the kids are somehow prepared to stop watching when the movie is finished but with cable TV, it's more difficult to let them stop since they know that the cartoon channel will be on for the rest of the day. So, they end up asking to watch the next show to be their last and if I don't check, it has already been the 3rd round of that show and still they want to watch more. Then, there will be tantrums when it's time to turn the cable tv off. With videos, I also get to choose animated cartoons that make sense while many of the cartoons in cable TV (esp. the afternoon shows) are not so good.

So, I think we will have to say good bye to our cable TV soon. Never mind if I can't watch all the news channel anymore, I can always check the internet for news anyway. As for cable movies, we seldom have the time to do that these days. So, getting a home theater and home theater seating are not part of our plans as of this time.
