Just a week ago, we found out that aside from the water bill the Thai government is also subsidizing their citizens' electric bill. The bill must not exceed a certain amount of usage and then it'll be free. But if it does exceed the limited amount, then they have to pay on their own. I think this is also a drive from the Thai government to let the people be aware and conserve power and water. They also have a similar program for the water bill, like if the water bill is under 500 baht and then you don't have to pay anything anymore.
Last month, we were happy that we also saved some money since our water bill was under 500 baht. We thought that this time, we would also be exempted from paying our electricity bill. But unfortunately when we saw our bill this morning, it exceeded 500 Baht and therefore we have to pay ourselves.
But you know what, after finding out of our excess, we started to become more aware of our electric usage and get to quickly turn off the lights and fans when it's no longer in use. Hopefully, next month we will be able to avail of the 'free' electricity from the government.
