It has been a year since we have been to the post office here. We were away for a year and so we thought that our PO Box rental has already expired. Thankfully, it didn't. We were still able to retrieve our mail accumulated for a year, newsletters, 2008 Christmas cards, subscriptions and wedding invitations and etc.
When my hubby asked for an extension of the rental of the PO Box, he was surprised that the annual fee has increased again. I could very well remember a few years ago that the annual fee for a PO Box was just 60 Baht a year, then it increased to 120 Baht and now it's 500 Baht!!
We didn't have any choice, we had to renew it since we've been using this PO Box for years. This has become our official mailing address because we always move our residence and we feel that it's better to have one.
Anyways, the Thai postal system is quite efficient and safer compared to other postal systems we know. They have all kind of services including postcard mailing services.
