Presenting the Tinkerbell Cake and Cupcakes

For years, I've been baking chocolate moist with chocolate frosting as birthday cakes for my kids. This year, I finally went out of my way and made my daughter a 'real' birthday cake - a buttercake with buttercream frosting. I was nervous at the thought of doing something different. You know, my cake might turn out to be a 'disaster' and we might end up buying a ready made cake instead. But after viewing a few videos on Youtube on how to do the 'shell' border effect and etc., I finally had the courage to do it.

And here's my first attempt on cake decoration using buttercream icing on butter cake.

Not so smooth yet...but not bad, I guess...

Oh, I improvised and made my own cupcake stand.. these are just 2 plates with a red nescafe mug as stand..;)

I got so addicted with the 'swirls'.. I could just go on and on making swirls on the cupcakes!

And what can I say? My kids absolutely loved them. I can't count how many 'wow's they've uttered and how many kisses and thanks I received from the birthday celebrant and the 'feeling' celebrant ( the li'l brother) . LOL! Oh, it was worth the time and the effort. And I guess, I'm encouraged to explore the art of cake decoration.....;)

Wow! I honestly adored the care that you've make, love. And I smiled a lot while reading too because I seemed heard your voice while reading...sounds weird but that's the truth. I miss you!
