The Piano man came the other day. We had to explain to him that the piano got submerged in the water (from the flood) twice, so he won't be shocked with the piano's condition.
Who wouldn't get shock when some parts are already rusted, muddy and not to mention the termites also attacked the back portion of it. Sigh! Such a pitiful sight. I'm sure any pianist would cry over its condition.
So, the man opened it, took a look at it. He told us that our piano has a good brand - Wittemberg. A brand new piano like ours he said, would cost around 200,000 pesos. Whoa! But the question : Is there still hope for our precious piano to be restored. Yes, he said, but he quoted 25-35,000 Pesos for all the repairs and to make the piano sound and look brand new. It's expensive because all the parts he has to buy is expensive. Whew!
Now, another question: can we sacrifice such a huge amount of money just to repair our piano? I don't know with my Mom. This piano, even though no one's playing with it anymore, has some kind of sentimental value as my parents bought this in the early 80's. So, even though none of us (the children) are so interested in playing it, but it's with the hope that maybe, just maybe one of the grandchildren will take interest in it and become a grand pianist. ;)
