Has Anyone Tried Lasik?

I've been reading about Lasik lately and even done a few posts about it. I've also read about the benefits and advantages of it but I've never met anyone yet who has done it.

Anyway, if you're a reader of this blog and has had lasik surgery, I'm curious to know of your experience. Was it really painless? How did it feel to have 20/20 vision without wearing eye glasses? What about the costs? Was it worth it?

Oh, I'm not doing any survey. I'm just curious. Who knows we'll get to have some extra finances and I could 'afford' to have my Hubby's vision corrected through Lasik too.

I had Lasik surgery about 8 years ago. My vision was very bad and it was borderline whether or not I should try Lasik.

It was not painless. It was very stressful. They gave me two valium before the surgery to help me be calm. They put numbing drops in my eyes and began the surgery.

Afterwards, my eyes were sore and dry, sort of like I'd been in a sandstorm. I had to be careful for a few days to make sure they didn't get infected.

When my eyes healed and I went back to the doctors for a follow up checkup, I found that not only had they corrected to 20/20, I could actually see better than that. It was incredible to go from being almost blind without my glasses to being able to see better than most people without my glasses on.

It has been so long, that I've mostly forgotten what a hassle glasses were. I enjoy being able to swim and then find my towel afterwards, and so many other small things like that that I just couldn't do in the past.

I realize that each persons experiences are different, but for me, even with the stress and the mild discomfort, it was one of the best decisions I've made.
